I got the PC back tonight ... I'm still not sure the sub-woofer is working right, but you know what? .. I ain't gonna worry about it ... the system sounds fine as is!!!
The fellow who worked on it charged me $60 which included PU & del I gave him $80 ... He said there was a corrupted sp2 file, a trojan virus, and a number of other things he found ...
This guy is a friend of my nephew, and he loaded me up with some good stuff, like adaware, etc. ..... even let me 'borrow Acid Pro 5 to "try out" ... now I'll have to start trying to record some stuff ...
