Some people just have no taste at all. I happen to like the Harpsichord, and Pipe organ. They are two of my favorite instrumnets. This guy obviuosly is a classical music hater, otherwise why would these two instruments be on the list. The recorder I can see, the bag pipes, well I'm not a huge fan of them. (BTW: That photo, is just wrong). The pipe oragn in fact is a synthesizer, becuase it does synthesize sounds. Okay, it doesn't use electricity, but it does mimic other instruments.

As for the Harpischord, it's just personal taste.

The pipe organ is NOT a synthesizer. It is 100% acoustic in every way. The sounds are merely assotiated with other instruments because of teh similar wave forms created by combining different lengths of tubing ( pipes )
Whew. It's based on simple, acoustic, harmonic structure.

I had heard on a program on NOVA called "What is Music", and a pipe organ player had describe a pipe organ as being a type of synthesizer, but I guess he was wrong.
