I've just got hold of an MC303 Groovebox but I find that if I just want to use it as a 'Rhythm Machine' sound source (not in Module mode) then just about everything that's coming out of the sequencer (Cakewalk express 6) on all channels plays through the 303. Even muting the 303 on all 8 parts doesn't stop this. Any help would be great!! Thanks S.

No solution for this problem...the only thing you can do is to put the MC303 as the master for sync...in slave mode mc303 receives everything and you can't choose nothing, neither the midi reception channel...i don't use it anymore because of that...

One solution could be to add an extra midi port (cheap soundcard like SB Live! Value should do) to your computer and block (filter out) all other midi channels (exept 8 or was it 10??) on that port.

I don't know if it is possible in Cakewalk ... but in theory something like this should work...

You can go in and turn the internal volumes down on the parts that are playing on the 303, that's what I did.

Ok ... I was playing around with mine yesterday and I see what you mean.

The problem seems to be that if MC-303 is not in Module mode, everything that comes in from midi cord (doesn't matter from what channel) gets played back from the channel you have selected from "Part select".

So ... to avoid this you need to filter out all the garbage (ie. all other midi messages except the rythm part.) You should (might?) be able to do this from Cakewalk Midi filter properties screen ....

Hope this helps a little ...

On the 505 there is a "local kbd on/off" parameter, check to see if the 303 has one.

No joy. 303 doesn't have the option... be nice if it did though.
