Hi everyone,

this week I took out my trusty old DX, which was stored for some time now, to find that it wouldn't start up.
I havent used the synth for a couple off years, (dont ask me why) but now I needed him.
SO I plug it in and bassicly NOTHING happes.
the lights dont light up, nothing.

What could be the problem?

I oppend the synth on the back-side so I could check the powercable etc. and everything seems fine.
There is power on the printboard where the power is coming in but thats it.

Does it have something to do with the small battery? allthough I dont think so, its mainly there to store data isn't it?!

Any clue would be a big help

Greetings from Holland

Daniel

It seems very strange that nothing even lights up. But some gear does shutdown when the battery dies because the operating system crashes on the bad data I guess. I can't recall hearing that the DX7 was that bad and would expect it to boot up with blank patches.

But for the sake of changing the battery in case it is causing a problem I'd try that first before deciding you have a hardware power problem that won't be as easy to remedy.
