I purchased a used Yamaha S30 synth and have one question. When using a Smart Media storage card how do I transfer midi files (songs) from my PC, which is running Sonar to the card so I can play them back? I did not get the software that came originally with the synth so I’m wondering do I need a software application to do this. Any help here would be great.

Tha fastest way is to buy a smart card reader and connect it via usb to your computer. They cost around £29.
Another way is to go to yamaha synth.com and download the file utility software, when installed just drag and drop your files to and from the utility software window to transfer them to or from the synth. This is a slower method than using a smart card reader but still works.

Mick.

Almost forgot, here is the direct link to the file utility software. http://www.yamahasynth.com/down/file_utility/index.html

Good luck.
