Hi to all, particularly those who are considering the purchase of the Yam SW1000XG audio/midi card - I thought I should let you know that I've just had to send the enclosed as an email to Yamaha as I and my music have been waiting over eight months for Directx drivers for this card!

Please let me know if you have any info on this - many thanks.....

Email to Yam reads:
"Hi - once again I'm checking the status of the provision of DirectX drivers for the Yamaha SW1000XG Soundcard. I, together with other users, am losing patience fast!

It seems incredible that it should take this long to provide something that is an absolute prerequisite for a serious audio/midi card working in a Windows environment.

The phrase "we don't need DirectX because it's not a card for playing games" is complete nonsense. What about plug-ins, software synths, software samplers? The latency produced by MME and even ASIO is just not acceptable in modern music production. Rebirth and Cubase won't work at all together without DirectX !

The music/IT press are soon going to wise-up to this serious shortcoming. Please Yamaha, get your act together and get these drivers on general release or the bubble is going to burst for the SW1000XG."

Oddly enough, why aren't I in the least bit surprised...? If you want any tech support from Yamaha, either contact a third-party specialist, or do it yourself. Even if you're a Yamaha registered engineer and have previously pointed out product defects, etc., you still don't get anything back from them... That's just the way it is...
