I just got a Yamaha Tx7 module from Ebay. I realise that it's voices were designed to be edited by a DX7 keyboard and there is no way to get to any editing functions from the buttons on the front panel. I have heard that there is software that will allow me to create voices for it from the ground up on the computer and then dump them into the memory slots on the Tx7 through midi. Do any of you know of any freeware (or any software that will allow me to do that?).

About the only DOS editor I know of is at
http://www.fm-alive.com/. It is said that it should work with most Windows releases other than Win2000/NT.

Hey ! Thanks for the info. I'm going to download it and give it a try when my Tx7 arrives in the next day or two.

Of course I was referring to DXEd the DX7 editor at that website. The TX7 and DX7 are completely compatible. You should be able to find a range of DX7 patches for your TX7 by checking out the DX7 resource links on the Yamaha Page At Synth Zone.
