I found a Yamaha s910 at a decent price, it will be coming soon.

Some of our Kn7000 owners have a second keyboard – How are using the second keyboard? Do you use them together? Are you using a midi connection?

Your thoughts appreciated, John C.

Hi John.
I've had a s910 for the past 6 months. At first I just wanted a keyboard easier to move than my KN7000 and I spent many, many hours working on getting it to sound like the 7K. However, after working out the challenge with the voices I found myself enjoying the styles on the Yamaha, and then found many more neat styles on the internet - many from the Tyros. So,I've been converting the Yamaha styles to the KN7000. This is a slow process, but it's bringing new excitement to my true love. Frank

I have worked with Yamaha keyboards for 4 years. What I am inquiring about is how other members are using the second keyboard. (Individual thoughts)

Hi Frank, Making your s910 sound like a kn7000 is a frustration lost cause. I believe that it will not happen --- not to any great degree.

I am interested in your method of converting Yamaha styles to Kn7000 styles.

Thank you for your help, John C.

Hi Audrey and John,
PSR Tutorial is a great site for all kinds of Yamaha info, some wonderful styles. John I don't have any software to bring the Yamaha styles to the KN7000. I simply record each part of the style in the key of C to make a MIDI file and then load it into the 7K. Go to Program Menu - Composer - Seq to Composer Copy. Select the measures and assign parts based on the MIDI file location and put together the composer style.
This is a slow process, but it has brought me styles that sound great with the Technics voices.

Frank,

It seems to me that if you can get these styles in COMPOSER, all you have to do is file them in CUSTOM STYLE and in doing so, others could have them by your sending the file.

Hi John,
I have a Tyros3 and a Solton MS40 module midi-ed up to my Kn7000.
The Solton is used mainly for strings (it's very old but leaves both the KN7 and T3 behind in this respect) and the KN7 & T3 are used either separately or both together - using maybe style from one and voices from the other. Sometimes, voices from both, or even all 3 are used together, bringing them in & out as required to add variety.

The Kn7000 is still my favourite keyboard and suits my purpose better than the T3 and also has a better midi spec - I would be willing to pay anything up to £5k if Technics had brought out a KN8000.
The Yamaha is insurance for if the KN dies on me.
Best wishes,
Tony
