Hi everybody,

I have a little problem with my Kn2600. When I shut it down for a few hours and power it up the next morning, it has lost all of my original sound memories and resetted back the factory presets. I have to reload them every time I use it. Is that normal with this machine (I don't have that issue with my Kn7000)or is this a matter a low backup battery inside the machine?
Thanks

If you save those settings to your SD Card before you shut down you've only got to reload them when you switch on again - takes about one and half to two seconds to reload...

No this is normal I own a KN2600 and I save all my registrations to SD cards for recall as required.

The KN2600 must have a different Sound Memory configuration to the KN7000. The KN7000 Sound Memory retains it's content even through long power-down periods so I believe it uses Flash Memory. I doubt if the KN2600 uses a battery to support its volatile memory content for short power-down periods - it is more likely to use a large value capacitor, which will slowly discharge, resulting in the loss of content after a short time.

Hello Mordicus,

I have the KN7000 and on page 198 in my manual, it shows details 'ABOUT THE BACKUP MEMORY AND PERFORMANCE DATA'

Look for this paragraph in your manual and if you cannot find it and would like to email me, I'll send you a copy.

Audrey

Thanks Audrey,

I was aware of the information on page 198 on the Kn7000 manual. But what confused me was that on page 185 of the Kn2600 manual they say that "The BACK UP data will not be erased even with the passage of time." But I think now that this refers to "MIDI (USER for the MIDI PRESETS) & FAVORITES" as previously written in the manual.
