Hi

I have just been reading the excellent post 'Loading Midi to Files' and thought it might be time to buy another half a dozen 1GB Sandisk SD card's. But looking on the internet the 1GB cards are more expensive than the larger capacity cards.

Can anyone recommend a supplier in the UK for reasonably priced Sandisk cards, as I think these are the most reliable.

Thanks, Glen

you're welcome, unfortunately 1GB is getting harder to find at a reasonable price, and can be more expensive than 2GB due to less demand and run downs in production.

You can format a 2GB card as 1GB in the KN7000 and just forget about the extra space, or format 2GB in the Jukebox program and forget about the % remaining display in the 7k screen.

I would say beware of ebay since there are many fake (lookalike) SanDisk cards there which may not work for digital audio, but may be ok for technics/midi saves - a little pot luck involved.

Have a look here Glen : http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/default.php?cat=6&type=6020&man=0&filterwords=&go=SEARCH&comp=

I've used the Fuji, Dane, Duracell, Kingston and Sandisk ones without any problems. The first one listed @ £3.99 each, for 4+ is a good deal. Since this firm is in the Channel Islands, they do not charge VAT on orders below £18. In the past, when I have ordered a quantity of the same item and the total value exceeded £18, they split the order into two packages, to avoid the VAT !!

I find them a good firm to deal with, but delivery does take a little longer due to them being 'Offshore'

Somebody sent me a DaneElec some years ago which would not accept digital audio, so care is needed if audio is a priority since some cheaper brands do not fully comply with the sd specification.

However cheap brands buy in their controller and memory chips and just package them and supply varies from batch to batch so performance one year may well be different in another. Dane could be ok for audio now, I haven't tested any lately. Fuji and Duracell also just buy in any bits they can find. For only technics/midi saves it doesn't matter for 95% of brands.

SanDisk are safe because they are one of the few who make their own controllers.

Bill, Alec

Thanks again for the additional info.

I forgot you can format larger cards in the KN7000 to 1GB, thanks for the reminder.

Regards, Glen

Just checked my 4 1GB DaneElec SD Cards, which I bought about a year ago and they work fine with MP3 files. I don't use my cards for MP3 files but in view of Alec's comments, I thought I would just try them out

Staples, PC World, Maplins, Argos and Tescos sometimes have the 1GB Cards but not necessarily Sandisk. I only buy 2GB cards because my camera also uses SD Cards and once I've backed up the keyboard's data to my PC, I can then use the card in the camera.

Be aware though, there are now SD Cards and SDHC Cards made by Sandisk and the SDHC card will not work with the Technics KN7000.
