Hi Ralph,

Sorry, my English is not so good.

Also I have the KN 3000 with the hard disk HD SY 1 with the memory of KeySoft.

I do not understand your question!
Do you need a user manual? I have one but in German.
Want to load songs or styles?
Do you want to format the hard drive?
Please some more information. Maybe I can help you.

Greeting
HarryG

As far as I remember, there is no additional program to use the KN3k HD.
When boot up, look at the screen and see if you notice a messagge at the
bottom right side that HD is recognized.
Then when KN is up and running, just press the "Load" button and hold it
for a while, and the screen swap to HD structure.
Same when save, just hold save till you see HD and not floppy screen.

Some years since I had this lovely keyboard, so there might be something
that I don't remember about it, but just try it and see.
The HD came ready formatted with the filestructure needed, so if you
formatted it in any way by use of PC, there is a chance it don't work.

Good Luck & Happy Playing
GJ

Btw, maybe Alec (Technicsplayer) or any of the other knowledge members can
fill in the gaps if they read this.

Hi GJ,

there is an additional program for the KN 3000
It's called HD-HSO 3000, HD System Extension for Technics SX-KN-3000 and HD Tech Editor 96, PC backup / restore software for KN 3000/HSO and KN 3500
Look in your mail. I have sent you three pictures of the manual.

Technics supplied a standard hard drive for the KN3000 which was a simple slot in, and called the keyboard so equipped KN3500 in some markets.

Keysoft sold a new board which I remember swapping my hard drive from the Technics board to the Keysoft board and soldering several fine wires to tiny surface mount pads (this normally done only by Technics approved service centres but I had special dispensation). I was the only person in the UK with this system at that time.

It had a parallel interface, special cable, and associated computer program as described above by Harry G. This enabled backup and editing of the KN3000 hard drive on the pc or laptop, with more saving locations, naming characters and facilities than the standard Technics hard drive.

Thank's for your mail HarryG.

Even if I had HD installed on my KN3k, this was unknown for me untill now.
I had the Technics version, easy slot in as Alec say here, and no additional soft
or hardware.
When I got the KN5k, then I got to know Keysoft HD and software.

Alec, I cannot remember this issue been eloborated at fora, and not seen it at
Keysoft sites before HarryG sent this (old) link: http://www.keysoftservice.ch/produkte.htm

The one I had is: http://www.keysoftservice.ch/index-e.htm
and at the support page there no sign about things before KN5000 either.

Maybe my "grey cells" are slowing down, but KN5, KN6, KN65 and KN7 I knew about
that was supplied by 3rd party soft and hardware.
Again an example about the say: We keep on learning as long as we live.

Cheers

Alec,
does this mean that it's possible to replace the HD with a standard (IDE I suppose)
formatted supplied from the PC stores and format it for the KN3 at the keyboard?
Nice to know if my old KN3 who still have a good life being played regulary by a friend
that bought it from me. It's even used at gigs among with his SD5.

Btw, nice to see you again, hope everything is fine in your area.
Enjoy the summer, here it's no sign of the so called "global warming", at least not so
far this summer ...

Cheers
GJ

Hi Technicsplayer, and GJ

which is described correctly.
There were two versions. KN 3000 with retractable HD on the back of keys and a built-in HD KN 35000

Unfortunately, the company has discontinued the production KeySoft because Technics has also stopped production.
These programs are only used on eBay or buying a Technics Keys, where was this particular HD installed.

Information zum KN 7000

Hi Gunnar,
unfortunately no. The Technics KN3000 hard drive system was a normal IDE drive but on a Technics board with a special interface and connector. This fitted into a plastic moulding on the back on the keyboard - a simple slot in.

The keysoft system was on a larger board, and you had to open up the keyboard and the plastic moulding was disassembled and discarded to create enough space for the larger board and new back panel parallel computer socket. The new board had to have around 5 or 6 wires soldered to the main microprocessor for interface in a specific cable layout. The drive was reformatted internally and the KN3000 then had pretty much the identical functions and new main load/save screen as the Keysoft KN5000 hard drive system you had.

Yes, thank you, the weather here is very fine. I was away last week and am going again next week , so "making hay" while this sun shines

Hi Gunner, relating to the hard drive question, somebody said to me , if cant get a hard drive for the kn3000 why dont i use a USB or card to floppy Emulator, all you have to do is to assign a lot of 1.4mb folders into the usb or card and put your songs into each folder and bobs your uncle, have you heard of anything like this yet or lately there are a few on the market starting at around $60 up to $300 http://www.datexdsm.com/emulator/docs/DTX200en.html?gclid=CIK35JXYraQCFUU14wodAEWAsQ
