Hello Bob,

Sorry I cannot give you an exact address to purchase your batteries but below are the two I would contact first:-

Yamaha batteries: www.yamaha-music.co.uk

Technics batteries: www.stylediskwarehouse.com

Style Disc Warehouse have recently acquired all the Technics stock from Technote and it is possible they will have them in stock.

However, I would think both companies will be able to assist you with regard to the purchase of batteries.

Good luck! Audrey

All electronics devices that have settings that stay intact whenever the power is disconnected have internal batteries. This applies to most digital keyboards. The battery is usually connected to the circuit board inside the keyboard. They are not made to be very accessible. Plus older devices actually even soldered them directly to the circuit board just to make it even more difficult to replace them. I guess when they were made the manufacturers figured that often the product would be discarded before the battery died. So often to replace them involves removing part of the outer case to get to the circuit board.

Thanks Nigel for the explanation that could also be applied to laptop computers

Unlike a Desktop PC My Dell laptop Computer had no internal CMOS battery that could be replaced just a capacitor soldered to its motherboard this was the backup unfortunately when this component dies it can be an expensive job to get it repaired so I tell everyone to connect you laptop into the mains every so often to keep it charged so the best advice would be to boot up your Keyboard every so often and do not leave it standing around unused for months

The PSR-540 Owner's Manual has the following para on page 2.

"Battery Notice:
This product MAY contain a small non-rechargeable battery
which (if applicable) is soldered in place. The average life
span of this type of battery is approximately five years.
When replacement becomes necessary, contact a qualified
service representative to perform the replacement."

I have no info on the KN650 but the KN6000 and KN7000 both appear to use capacitors which are soldered.
