The KN650 only retains 'User' sets for 80 minutes. The answer is to save to a
Floppy Disk.

It is important to save all your personal settings to a Floppy Disk everytime you use the keyboard before switching off, to ensure you have backups in case new settings should accidentally overwrite any old ones or, the keyboard is not used for awhile e.g shut down for the night.

Hope this helps!

Hi Folks,
If I am correct the internal memory of the KN650 is retained by the use of a Lithium battery which was supposed to last about 5 years from purchase at which point you were supposed to return to your "Technics" dealer to have a replacement fitted. Now this might be a problem, as if it is the same in the US, as it is in the UK. Dealers are charging a fortune and or trying to talk you into a new keyboard.
If you know a good engineer try getting a quote, and do your sums as to the best option for you, perhaps moving up a model with disk drive may be a good investment for you.
Best regards John.

Hi Bob,

I agree with John, it would be an investment to move up a model or two as I doubt whether you can get a new battery now,let alone find anyone to fit it for you.

kn650 does not have a lithium battery for memory retention it uses a double layer capacitor 0.047F 5.5v I have just replaced one with the equivalent from Maplin part No N98CN at £1.30 Replacement is not for the inexperienced since it is soldered in place on the main board next to the memory chip. Great care is required in removal and replacement.
