Hi everyone,
Help, I cannot seem to use Song Manager with the KN7000. I have the great book and video from Alec and have read it over and over. I still cannot get it to work. Alec says to be sure you are on the home page and I think I am. The home page is the first screen that comes up when you turn on the keyboard isn't it? The book shows a picture showing PC COMMUNICATION, but I cannot see this screen on the KN7000. I get a transmission error everytime. My computer is a Pentium 4 @ 1.8ghz with Windows XP. I loaded all the proper disks that came with the Keyboard. Also, I'm using a SD card (256mb)with the SXZ-CB7 reader, sure is confusing when you want to copy the great songs that the members make available. Nothing shows up for names of the songs unless I first copy the songs to floppy. This method just takes to long and you cannot fill 20 spots in the folder on the SD card unless all the files fit on the floppy. The SD card was fomatted on the KN7000 and Alec's book states, if I'm correct, the names will not show up after your first use? Why with all the advancement in computer technology can't they fix this problem. I have created a new folder on the SD card in the proper place and copied 20 member songs on to it, the KN7000 does not show any information in the folder. The songs are there and will play, but you cannot see them. Am I doing this incorretly? All this has probably covered in an earlier forum question and I tried to find it with no luck. I just got my KN7000 about 3 weeks ago after waiting an extra month, because the one my dealer had in stock was damaged in shipment. I think it is a great Keyboard and an improvement over my KN3000. Especially since I also purchased all the EW boards and the bass pedals. I would like to share some songs with the members, but until I figure how to use the tools available, Song Mangager, SD card and Audio recorder, I'm stuck. I thought I knew computers, but this has me very lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I had the same problem with the transmission error and found that eventhough I thought I had loaded my drivers, I had not. I run 2000 pro. I went to p60 and 61 and I guess upgraded my drivers with the disk. If you don't crrectly install drivers first, I think windows uses theirs.

Not much help, but it sure sounds familiar.

Good luck
Bernie

I too had a problem until I went back and reinstalled the drivers exactly as Alec states in his book.

Hope this works for you.

Regards,

Larry

I've reinstalled the driver per Alec's book and the directions on the disc, but still get transmission error message.

Just a thought - Have you tried to use any other peripheral devices on your PC USB port to check that it works OK ? Say a printer, Digital camera, scanner.......

Some scanner and digicamera software/utilities are scanning USB-ports constantly trying to find camera or scanner start button signal. That can fool Technics sofware to think that USB-port is busy. Uninstall them and try again.
