Arc...
Whatever synth you choose, it's gotta be right for YOU.
Whether it's Korg, Roland, Yam, whatever. Like you said in your opening thread, you want something that's easy to operate. As for the fat sounds, that's best achieved after tweaking parameters, to attain the sound YOU want. Some people are happy with Korg (like me), other's...Roland fits the bill. It's all a matter of preference.
Good Luck in your search.

Roland does not produce FAT sounding synths. They make good synths for(badly) replicating acoustic sounds, like strings and guitars. There drum kits on there synths fall far from short(are not very loud or phat to cut through the mix) of traditional drum machines like an 808 that roland themselves produced. They can't even emulate there own drum sounds, what a company.

The Roland XP series is great. Some of you anti-Roland morons don't have a clue really. If you want Roland-fatness, Arc, check out the JP-8080 rack or JP-8000 keyboard version. The 8080 really is the stronger one.

Roland RS-5(61k) and RS-9(88k)are great synth too.
And I agree with the fact that the XP series is a very versatile synth. I played both the RS-5 and the XP 30 and they were quite impressive synth to me.
