Curious what you all use for practice at home in your studios. I'm set up with my Arranger and DP in a 12 X 15 room above the garage. Great setup with privacy. I'm using a pair of Roland CM30s which are amazing for their size but like most players, never satisfied, always looking for the next thing. My thought is something for practice and maybe a small gig, but that's a big maybe these days. Selling all my bigger stuff. Thanks for your ideas.

I was using a Roland CM-110 system, which is similar to your CM-30s, but adds a subwoofer. It made my BK-9 sound great, and at 50 watts, it was definitely powerful enough for a small gig. I sold my house and it's currently listed on eBay, FWIW.

Pair of Mackie HR824's (nearfield studio monitors) for the main music system.

But I'll set up my K10's if I'm practicing with live musicians..! Arrangers have very little dynamic range compared to real musicians...

I use a pair of ADAM A7V studio monitors. The sound very clear and detailed and perfect for near field listening. They do not need a sub.

They are active monitors that can be room corrected via DSP. I am 100% satisfied.

Add a subwoofer (At least 10") and set the crossover to around 80Hz, then you will really have a cracking system.

Also if you have them on your desk, make sure you isolate them from it, with at least isolation pads, (But ideally isolation stands) as this will clean up the lower mid/upper base significantly.

Thanks all for the input. I'm thinking leave well enough alone. The CM30's on stands and the stereo link function do a pretty good job. I wish there was a way to add a small sub but don't think its possible to keep the stereo sound.
We're never satisfied are we ? LOL

You only need one sub for a stereo system... they are crossed over so low there's next to no directional information from 100Hz down.

2.1 systems (two top speakers, one sub) are very common on stage and in studios and home entertainment rigs.

Yea I know but there is no way to hook one up with the CM30's that I know of without losing the stereo of the two units. Which really sounds nice in the studio.
