The price of the 88-key version has gone up to $4,000 from $3600.

The Kronos 3 was supposed to be available in May. It is arriving in a few weeks.

The wait is finally over.

Sweetwater is shipping the Korg Kronos 3.
Here is a short review by Synth S.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DKo03wIYeXo

He did not like the flimsy faders. He prefers the backlit faders on his Yamaha Montage M8x.
He prefers the menus on his Nautilus.

He likes the faster boot time of 47 seconds. However, the Montage boots up faster.
At the increased price of $4,000 many may consider getting the M8x for $4,500 for its better build quality.

Here is a longer 25 minute demo of the Kronos 3 showcasing all the 9 sound engines, Karma, Sampler and Sequencer.

All the reviews will be pouring in over the next few days.

That’s likely a tariff bump, so expect to see a similar bump on most everything once current stock is depleted…

One can only pray 🙏 that Korg are going to fix bugs and features faster than the PA5X…

Quite honestly, at this point in time I wouldn’t recommend ANYONE buying a Korg of any kind for at LEAST 6 months from a product launch. You not only want to let someone else find the bugs, but you need a few months to find out what kind of bugfix timeframe Korg are working on. If a fix comes in a few weeks, you’re good to go. If, like the PA5X it takes THREE YEARS 😱 you will have saved yourself a lot of grief.

I think this is a good advice regardless of brand.
Never the less, and as usual, the buyers are the beta testers, either they want to or not.

There hasn’t been a Korg level incident of neglect at ANY other major. There are always little bugs and they tend to get squashed promptly. Anywhere else major you’ve heard of this level of incompetence and seemingly deliberate disregard for making it right?

The PA5X reminds me of Roland’s exit from the upper end arranger market. Completely unannounced. Main thing was, the BK9 and EA7 were relatively bug free and still got a couple of fixes within a few months of launch.

Since the PA5X Korg haven’t released another arranger. That’s THREE YEARS without a single model. No successor to the PA1000 for EIGHT YEARS. If this isn’t Korg quitting the arranger market and not telling anyone (like Roland did) I don’t know what is…

If they do, then that will leave just Ketron & Yamaha producing high end arranger keyboards, plus Bohm & Wersi producing single manual organs with arranger features.

Then there is the question of how much longer will Yamaha stay in the high end arranger keyboard market, as the Genos 2 has pretty much everything the typical arranger player (Home Hobby Player) will ever need.

Yamaha and Ketron are the only ones who have anything midline or pro line recently. Quite honestly, a 920 is all (or much more!) than the typical arranger player would need!

Ketron really concentrate on the high end (along with Wersi/Bohm), they have very little practical in the same vein as the 720 and 920. So basically it’s now a one horse race for affordable arrangers… Yamaha.

You can’t really count the EVM because the ‘typical’ arranger user isn’t going to jump through the hoops that hooking this up to a controller and control surface are going to entail.

So what’s left in the middle? An 8 year old PA1000, a 13 year old Roland BK5, or today’s Yamaha lineup of modern SX arrangers.

End of an era…
