AJ would be the one to know, and he helped me out tremendously a while back when I fouled up my SD3 trying to update the OS.

Jay Fox Band somewhere near Chicago or Indiana used to stock Ketron products. Not sure whether they still do.

I'm just a bit confused by the distributor/retailer designation. Are there other retailers, and AJ is just using the distributor designation (and participation here) to steer sales away from other authorized dealers, or has it come down to there being just the one dealer in the entire country?

At one time, there were 2 distributors in Maryland, both of which employed AJ and Dan01. Dan later opened his own Keyboard store in Towson, Maryland, but it only lasted about 2 years before closing. Currently, there are no piano stores operating in Maryland. Therefore, the only distributor I know of is AJ. AJ is a nice guy, works very hard and the one time I visited his apartment when he lived in Aberdeen, Maryland, it was lined wall to wall with arranger keyboards he was in the process of repairing. He later moved to New Jersey, I believe, but I have not had contact with him in several years. He is very talented, both musically and technically.

I agree. And in this post-brick and mortar store we live in, perhaps only one dealer is all we’re going to get. But I can’t help thinking that I’ve rarely bought a keyboard I couldn’t try out first, and return shipping and often fairly steep restocking fees keep me from purchasing many things I would probably have bought if I could walk into a dealer and play for a couple of hours. That can’t be good for sales…
