For the very little video I do, I love my antique Kodak.  Just set it on tripod, plug in audio feed, hit the Record button on the camera or the remote control and shoot yourself! +1 The only problem with the Kodak z-8, you can't monitor the video, as there is no flip screen. But it's a great inexpensive small camera that records in 1080 and has a line in for true sound. I also love the Canon Vixia line, compact, HD, mic/line in for direct audio recording, and a flip screen for viewing. The newest R800 sells for about $200.

Larry great info, the monitoring is important now that you mentioned it..... can you possibly post one of your songs so we can hear and see the quality live as a reference?
