Listening to Dave's lackluster tracks (admitted), I listened to some of my tracks from 10 years ago..

This keyboard sounds better than Ketron, Roland, (Yamaha and Korg are not in the running) smile

You guys can guess what it is... 24 bit 192khz sound.

You think that the Farfisa G7 could sound better than Roland , Ketron, Yamaha or Korg... and pristine quality sound? shocked

It is the MediaStation (Giga samples).
The MS is Giga sound as it's sound source, and also the choice of Dream chip 64.

This is all basic Giga table.

What made the MS shine... the audio quality.

Well, this is a Pa4x and that track doesn't come close to sounding like this:

First of all as regards Dave's Ketron SD7 recordings: in as far as they are recorded directly from the line out of the SD7 they sound anything but lackluster and far superior to "Testing, 1,2,3 " ( Roland G70 ) for starters.
No wonder that both Donny and Don were initially vying for pole position to get his SD7 once he has been able to take delivery of the SD60.

Also this Mediastation track does not impress me at all. The string section saves the recording, the accompaniment is horrible both in sound and in monotony. Simply dreadful.....

regards
John

Al you are right... the MediaStation is so much clearer, and pristine sound quality. The Korg relies on the effects to cover up the audio quality..

The difference in the style of music, has no reflection on the quality of the audio.

Personally , I don't care for your demo example..

We will just have to have different opinions.

John did you get out of the wrong side of bed?

First the tracks that were in discussion are older MP3 tracks of other gear.

If you recall I told you to go for the SD7 via our email. I am a firm supporter of Ketron.

My example of the MS is not to showcase the track seq.. but to show the pristine sound quality.. (apparently many folks here can't hear :))

And my testing 1,2,3.....is showing me a lot about SZ grin

stop John...In no way was I ever interested in another
SD7 after owning two of them in the past, Dave's,
or anyone elses for that matter.
It is a very nice arranger KB but just not for my needs.

John,
I was the one to admit that the older sequences and tracks were created to sound good on older units, with EQ and balance based on the speakers in those units. Fran was echoing something I said, not slamming me. The performance I did with the sequences were recorded with the Shure MV88 mic on my iPhoneX, not direct. I've had a lot of time to fiddle with options, and come May - I will be broadcasting in the best way I am able, with what I own at the moment. I've harnessed most of the gremlins that have plagued my process thus far, and I'm excited to move on.
