Why are arrange players turned off by workstations like this?..

Well, for starters ... many of us are not "arranger players". Rather, like myself, I'm a player who uses an arranger for specific purposes.

It’s the difference in approach to music creation, and overall operation Donny. Today’s workstations sound just as good as top end arrangers. However, the operating system on workstations tend to be considerably more complicated. Sure, you can get “arranger like” functionality with the more advanced arps they have, but it’s still with limitations.

Creating your own music is much more involved on the workstations too. They’ve simplified it more over the years, but the arranger is going to do it faster requiring less fiddling with settings, but the end result for both is still the same.

Squeak I'll agree to a point until you add in the
Repetitive arranger styles & parts that weren't originally
created in the first place vs multi tracking on a workstation
sequencing your own work and each part..

Well, to me the arranger is more like the organs I used to own...and now no more, so I use it like a high end organ of days gone by.....Given my real preference I would love to have all the function and sounds in a Genos in a 2 manual organ. Wow, would that be Coooool!

That’s where the arranger player needs to get more involved when it comes to style repetitiveness. If you want to avoid that issue, then you have to dig in and edit the variations. It can get repetitive on a workstation as well. If you create your own backing tracks and chain those patterns in a more traditional way (intro/variations/fills/ending), it can be just as repetitive. The arrangers giveaway will always be the bass track. If you want your arranger compositions to really open up, delete the bass track from a style, and record it manually, and linear. Auto Accomp will always sound “auto” due to programming limitations so various parts work with chord recognition.

There is just so much that I am willing to do, an arranger does all I need. From what I remember a Workstation was more involved. If I was in a young band, playing their music, I would probably buy one.

Beside my Sx900 is a joy to play, it does all I want and more. I have not said that since my Kn7000.

I am not . I which is why I own the pa4x because it’s the closest hybrid to a workstation and arranger . I dig both sides of the creative workflow and integrate both whenever I can .
