I like to maintain a modest set of drum chops, and since I'm now in an apartment, I had to redefine my kit for space, and volume. Check it out - Pancake kick, piccolo snare, and tambourines (jingles removed!) for toms - add low volume cymbals, and I can play anytime I want! I even found some large cooking chop sticks that are FANTASTIC as low volume, super articulate drum sticks. (no Yamaha copyright infringement lol) Shhhhhh ... I'm practicing.

Better.

Nice kit. I have a Pearl Traveler kit which is similar in size. I try to play every day. In fact I have drum student coming over tomorrow and I’m preparing for his lesson now. He is very interested in jazz and has transcribed complete solos by Max Roach, Philly Joe Jones, and Art Blakey. He really keeps me on my toes!

This kit is MUCH quieter than the traveler. We had 2 of them at my old school.
Dnj - I thought you could actually delete the post, itself, and not just the content. Saving space, and cleaning up redundancies. Possible?

Nice compromise, but why don't you get yourself a nice Roland TD-9, TD-10, TD-12, or something with headphones? Cost?

Way ahead of ya, Al - the acoustic kit is a guilty pleasure, but the Roland kit lives in my studio, and gets lots of silent love!

Tony, you flatter me ... thank you. I can hold my own on rhythm and woodwind instruments, but orchestral strings, and brass are outside my wheelhouse.
At Temple, in my Teaching Instrumental Music class, they give you a hands-on amount of knowledge in all areas, so when it was time to take my violin test, I tuned it like a guitar, and I was doing really well ...... UNTIL, the professor asked me "Mr. Boyd, will you please play your open strings for me?" BUSTED!
I was super focused on clarinet, sax, and flute as a student, but after I started working in the industry, the instruments that allowed me to sing became my focus, so the winds got less, and less play, and I concentrated on Piano, bass, guitar, and drums. It's most likely a type of musical ADHD, but I just love the variety.
