Hi Dave,
I just basically used the heading he had on his post , .

He did his conversions from a video of the Genos, probably why one is sounding better than the other.

I was just amazed how close he got with the conversion. A lot of the Genos drums don’t play back on other keyboards, missing voices etc

Basically did a pretty good job I thought.

To put this into proper perspective - this is like hearing a SD90 play on a SD5 and not knowing the difference.

Yamaha allows their users to be creative - they (users) are constantly making their much older arrangers sound like the very latest ones. Thus, if you REALLY cannot afford to upgrade, then with just a little initiative and persistence you can come rather close to the latest models using what you have.

Hi Henni,
yes, it’s amazing how good some of them can be made to sound, in the right hands , of course. Haha.

The problem was , years and years ago, ( pre my kn7000) there were so many bad conversions , I spent all my time trying to sort thru the 1000’s of user styles. In the end I gave up, dumped the lot. Ended up collecting only factory styles.
Which I’m happy to say , I finally found a use for.

I gather your styles project is still going well.

Tx for sharing the video.

I’ve owned and sold my S950; now own a Genos. I’ve also owned the S710, PA4X and others.

For me, the Genos is the best arranger I’ve owned, and it’s not just about the sound.

It’s also about the key bed, the lay out of the Genos, storage...versatility..you name it.

It’s “Simply the best” for me. 😁

And therein lies the key ...

PERHAPS I am missing something by not upgrading to the 'latest and greatest', but not having played any of them, I don't know, and therefore am missing nothing ...

Enjoy what you play, play what you enjoy ...

Answer from THE L0NEARRANGER: The Genos is played first and then the S950 in each comparison......

Thought so, but with EQ, and stereo spread you could drastically improve the comparison.
