Last month, I came across a few cassettes that I didn't know I had. I figured out the date...early 90's. So, I was playing the Roland Pro-E, Yamaha DX7 and Roland U-20. Sounds came from any of the three keyboards. Everything again was done live in one take.

Nice stuff. Sounds very authentic! That’s neat you still have those old tapes!!

I thankfully found this song in an old recording I did. I think it was one of my best. So naturally I wanted to express my disappointment that Paul was the only one to comment on it. I'll tell you why.

I did the song for a very "Irish" lady who, at the time, was in some kind of an unfavorable sutuation. I wanted to cheer her up in the only way I knew how.....music! I like the song to begin with, so I knocked myself out to come up with an "arrangement." I thought I lost the recording but I recently found it. I listen to MY recording a lot because it came out just the way I wanted to hear it. I put my heart and soul, into playing it, singing it, and I love the arrangement I came up with.

I thought it was one of the few recordings I've done that I was personally proud of.

So I post it and get only one comment. The members here have been encouraged by other members to post songs. Everyone else who posts a song gets 10-20 positive comments (including Donny's famous "clapping hands"). I got......zilch!

I'm NOT complaining. Just really curious. Can anyone tell me....why is that? Or is it simply that it's an Irish song and no one in the group is Irish?

Mark, A couple of observations if I may ...
perhaps part of the reason for the lack of response is the fact that many people - like myself - may have been involved with the Thanksgiving Day holiday, and didn't have a chance to respond ... I notice that there have only been about 30+ downloads there are which is not a lot ...
I've also noticed that there are a few people on this board who love to post their music, appreciate the comments they receive, and yet NEVER, or at least VERY seldom will comment about others' music postings ... I have written about this previously, and still do not understand it ...
Then there are some who, not being overly impressed with a performance, and not wanting to make a 'negative' comment, will not say anything ... I'm not saying that is the case here, but it could be ...
It is a shame when someone spends as much time and effort as you must have on this piece, that others may not appreciate it in the same way, but that's life ...

As to your recording, I found it very interesting, especially in that, TO ME, it had the feel of a 1930 - 1940 recording ... You did a nice job on it, thanks for posting it.

Mark, I really enjoyed the production, the vocals were excellent, and the playing, superb, as usual.

Mark - not sure how I missed this one til today. I enjoyed your performance very much. I had a DX7 back in the good old days and still have a Roland U-20 in my garage (still have 4 or 5 of the plug-in sound cards for that). Both keyboards were the cat's meow and they still sound wonderful!

You did a super job on that recording, including the vocal! I am sure the lady who was the intended subject was extremely moved that you took the time and spent the obvious amount of effort to send such a nice musical work her way. Great arrangement, and very nice mix in the recording - great vocal too!

I do try to comment on as many performance posts on here as I can - I know that, with little response, the desire to post diminishes. So I apologize for not getting a comment on your post sooner. Thanks Mark for sharing a wonderful taste of Ireland!

To be honest, I rarely listen to songs that need to be downloaded. I'm spoiled by the box tunes, I guess. However - in your case, I'm glad I downloaded it, because it's wonderful. I put it in my playlist of St Paddy's day party tunes. Well done!

My mother was Irish, Her Mother was Irish, and my wife is Irish.

PS: you can have any calls I get for St Paddy's. It is a nightmare for me
