Anyone know what model electric guitar (black strat copy) he is using near the beginning of the video?

Evidently, the black strat copy is a Casio (probably a MG model-no longer made) for those that are interested. It looks to me like this was/is the only model with a built-in MIDI converter. The only other option for those who would like to try a Ketron module with a guitar is to install a Fishman Tripleplay or use a Roland guitar synth in addition to the Ketron unit. Someone please jump in and correct me if any of my information is wrong.

I see that a couple guys (Col and Jingleman) gave up on using a guitar with Ketron modules and I would like to hear what problems they encountered.

Yes - the model being used is the CASIO MG510. We get a few of these units refurbished from the factory in JAPAN and they are pretty good (as you can see with what Larry is using). That was/is one of the only units with the built in Midi and not requiring a converter from 13 to 5 pins.

The new Fishman Tripple play comes close and goes even further with it's wireless capability.

Finally, you have the Roland GK series - which requires you have the extra foot gear (where the conversion is handled). Of all 3 units, some VERY minor latency is noticed in these Roland units.

We hope that with the new modifications made on the SD90 and SD40, Guitar players will finally have what keyboard players have always had - better control and more access to sounds and styles!

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

SO the Fishman Tripleplay will require no footgear, just the usb dongle into the Sd40/Sd90 .... thas amazing.Secondly will there be an OS update for the SD40 to enable the Guitar option in the playmode setting ?

GUITAR option already exists (you can set this up manually) ... once the icon becomes available, it will be automated.

MANUAL SET UP
* Midi channel RX = 1
* Play Mode = Keyboard
* PIANIST MODE = On
* Sustain Mode = On

These will be set up automatically once you press the 'new' Guitar Mode icon. That's the only difference - automation versus manual set up.

Thanks,

Im not trying to be pedantic AJ but could i reconfigure one of the midi modes on my SD40 to display guitar, as i use midi keyboard and midi guitar it would be so convenient to be able to setup each input at the touch of a screen
