Sad news. A talented and gracious lady. I agree, John C., Doris could have vocalized well in just about any genre. I remember being surprised at how good Rosemary Clooney adapted to jazz.

My office manager and I ran a free spay neuter clinic in Lexington for years. Doris was always a supporter of causes like ours and often sent donations and merchandise to sell and raffle off. She even sent a person working for her to check us out and offer assistance.

I had a big crush on Doris when I was a kid. Great loss, but glad she lived a long life.

I was impressed at the professional demeanor she maintained after her husband and lawyer squandered 20 million dollars of her money and left her in debt.
