I had a plan..
I tought it should be possible..
Turning the ipad into a soundmodule..

Basic plan.. i send a program change/bank change to the ipad..
And the ipad selects soundapps and sounds and loads them..

I ended up with an illusion..
Found that with the current state of the apps, this is not possible in any way

I need to wait till camelot pro adds the needed features..
Or audiobus does
Or keystage does..

So back to the basics..
The ipad is incredible to play around with sounds and synthesizers
Its not yet ready to function as a soundmodule, like my mac/mainstage currently does..

Bachus, I use Android I can do this... The best way I use MidiVoyager Pro.. This app allows me to load any sound font, or connect to any midi out device..

I can use the internal sound fonts and play live via my USB controller..

You can load individual fonts to the internal memory.. ..Latency is good.

I believe MidiVoyager Pro works with ipad too.. You might want to check it out..

Bachus: Sorry to hear the iPad didn’t work the way you were hoping. It’s hard to except limitations of an expensive device, especially when a MacBook isn’t that much more money.

I am trying to address sounds and "app states" of iSymphonic Orchestra on my iPad with Program Change/MSB/LSB midi messages. iSymphonic provides this option, but using the app "iMidiPatchbay" to send these messages I haven't been able to succeed so far. (In the past I successfully used iMidiPatchbay to change sounds of my former Ketron SD1000).
Is this problem related to yours? I'm not very familiar with these procedures on the iPad yet...

EDIT: I finally found the solution to my midi IOS problem: While iSymphonic Orchestra uses the program change numbers 1-128, the app iMidiPatchbay uses 0-127, that‘s why the numbers stored didn‘t match and iSymphonic didn‘t change the registration. Now it works!

Just fonts is easilly archievable on ipad too..

But what i am trying to do goes far beyound that..
I want to use two dozen different programs/synths/piano's at the same time.. and also route midi to external midi ports

All those programs are either AUv3 or IAA standard (comparable to VST's) and connected trough hosting apps.. not just instruments, but alo effects..

If i wanted to do this with just AUv3 instruments, then Camelot pro would be a solution, but currently it does not host IAA or effects

What the ipad can do goes miles and miles beyound Android, but still isn't at the level of my mainstage patchbay on the mac

Its not the limitations of the ipad..
Its the limitations of the available 3rd party apps..
They are not made with keyboard users and midi in mind.
But they are getting there, there is quite alot of activity on the audiobus forums about this, and developers seem to be picking up

Its just mostly unexplored teritory right now..

Keep in mind that i can do almost everything on the ipad as long as i use the ipad to select my patches.. its just selecting patches from the Genos/external hardware where it becomes hard..

Another problem is that GEnos is not really suited for being controlled easilly from a remote app either, to much uncharted sysex there
