I’ve got 2 iPads. Don’t think l’ll be upgrading anymore with iPads. Bought a Dell 3000 2 in 1 11.6 screen running Windows 10. It has a 500gb hard drive and 8gb ddr4 ram. Runs as a tablet or laptop and can run all my daw software. Bought at Office Depot for $229. All of this in a small easy to use package.

Pretty pleased so far.

As long as you dont want/need all the creativity tools the ipad houses for creating and performing... a windows hybris is a better choice..

It runs daw, vst, all yamaha community tools, sheetreader...

The ipad offers to me a whole different more creative alternative, its espescially a lot of fun to me..

At present, I have sound source apps like iRig, Korg Module, Sensual Sax, and Galileo, plus Karaoke HD and UnRealbook. Since these are not productive or creative apps, it would be interesting to know what you find fun using iPad.

I have a love/hate relationship with iPads. I love the stability, but hate the awkward process of uploading, even though I somewhat understand the concept of iTunes. The main reason I am sticking with them is that the bulk of new and existing apps are written for this platform.

Like Bernie, I have a love hate for my iPad. They have too much control over what I am doing.

If you can't beat em---
It seems to me that you have to start with an interface. My old Muse Receptor had some of these elements or scenes to assemble a song from many different sources. It is in beta now, but looks promising.

If I were to do Apple again, it would have to be a MacBook. Price for those is ridiculous. The Dell gives you HDMI, USB 3, USB 2, which allows for USB mic recording, and audio interface connection. For $229...can't beat it!

Apple pricing has gotten out of hand it's all for their bottom line. 10 years ago I bought a refurbished MacBook Pro for just over $1000 it's still running although I did replace the battery and added an SSD to it. That same laptop today would cost $2500 maybe $2300 as a refurb.

On the flip side of things a few SZ members purchased a Pro12 Android tablet with a detachable keyboard for less than $200 and it does a great job syncing with the Korg Songbook for lead sheets.

Just start out with audiobus 3 and midiflow
Thats the base of all the fun..
It connects your keyboard to multiple apps and soundsources at once

From there you start building..
With for example beatmaker 3 for creating backings
Cubasis for recording
And korg gadget for a huge amount of little soundmodules..

And there is more, like dsp effects, arpegiators..
everything is available on ipad except a good arranger
And audiobus turns all those lovely things into one big soundmachine

Its effectively a midi and audiorouter..
Wish there was a simple app like this for macosx or windows..
But there isnt..
