converted for the S-970. I played them on my S-950 - WOW! The intros, endings, fills, breaks and overall style design is just incredible to say the very least. If I were not losing body parts left and right, I would shell out the money for a Genos in a heartbeat. For those of you that own any of the newer PSR and Tyrps arranger keyboards, go to the PSR-Tutorial site and download the converted styles - YOU WILL BE VERY IMPRESSED!

Gary, once again you are right on target! I use the Genos converted styles on my S975 and they really do sound awesome.

They take a bit more tweaking but they also work on the PSR-S775 (and Tyros4). I hadn't been to the PSR Tutorial site in quite a while...I'm very impressed at the sheer amount of high quality Yamaha styles available...revisiting the "old" styles for the Tyros and PSR-3000 was like visiting old friends, especially some of the fast and medium-fast jazz styles (awesome walking bass lines)...a real hoot to jam over again.

That site is a real goldmine.

Genos styles, and about everything else on this arranger, is very impressive.

The styles are top quality at psrtutorial. A long way from the way it was around 2001. Yamaha really has the edge for styles.

Hi Ian, good to hear from you. Was just thinking about you. laugh

As sharing styles all over the internet for free ...It will be a sad day for players when a company changes format to "Proprietary" only styles for each model only as it should be.Why spend 5k on a genos when you can play it's styles on a psr775, etc?

No matter what, more or less good conversions or not, they don't sound the same as at the keyboard as it is buildt and intended for.
Simple as that. wink

Hi Scott...I'm doing good...yep, the styles are the heart of any arranger...I remember when Roland had the edge, especially with their SuperCard in days of the old E-series.

What's nice about the current higher end PSR is that, although they don't have as many mega-voices as the Genos (and Tyros'), the ones now included are the most useful (especially the guitars and basses...the Acoustic Bass is a killer) and with some reworking with effects, EQ, etc. you can get extremely useful styles, (especially in combination with StyleAssembly, but, that's part of the fun of having a programmable arranger, besides playing it, of course!

I'm doing well, after a pretty serious rough spell, thank you, Scott...yes, I was auditioning some Big Band styles awhile ago, and I was thinking "this stuff is Scott Langholff's 'cup of tea'.

I'm always working on a "project" although, I have to say, I'm very selective (lazy) in what I get up to these days.
