Hi Guys,

I'm considering getting a keyboard preferably the KN2600 since I'm cash tight but heard wonderful reviews of the KN7000....I'm actually more curious on the sound quality between the 2....I read that it uses the same sound engine as the KN7000....can anyone tell me the main differences between the 2? Thanks for the help!

I have a KN7000 and have heard the KN2600 demonstrated recently.
The KN7000 definitely has a superior sound system. Of course quality comes with a price so the KN2600 is priced lower.
I don't know what musical skills you have but the KN2600 is still a nice keyboard.
Don't buy the KN2600 then lust for a KN7000 as that will only cause disapointment.
If you can possibly afford the KN7000 then go for it as it will please you.
I like the accomp. and rhythms on the KN7000 and have noticed that the KN2600 has a lot of modern stuff that is not my kind of playing. I love the BB sounds and music of the 40's and the KN7000 really comes thru with those sounds.
Hope I have helped you make a decision.
Good luck and enjoy music. Lloyd

With the availability of the 2600 styles for the 7000 makes the 7000 an even better buy.

Hi Lloyd,

Thanks for the feedback....I was an organist and getting a keyboard is more like an upgrade from my rusty old Technics EN3 organ(not to mention the demise of organs) When I say sound quality, I actually meant the Dynamic PCM Sound quality rather than the speaker system quality. No doubt that the KN7000 speakers are definitely much better than the KN2600 but if comparing instrument sounds...does the instrument set in KN2600 sound just like the ones in KN7000?

I'm more into modern music rather than oldies and you mentioned that the KN2600 actually has a lot of modern stuff. Are those stuff not available in the KN7000 as well?

My only hesitation is that arranger keyboards are still improving and evolving to become better....which only makes me wanna wait for the next best thing to come out.....

regards,
Ken

Information about KN2600 is different if it come from a KN fan or a Yamaha fan. It is always the same history.

Yamaha fans tell PSR2100 is a lot better in sounds, styles, support,... and vocal harmonizer, etc.

Technics fans tell KN2600 is a lot better in all (sounds, styles, building quality, keys) except vocal harmonizer.

I read that Yamaha 2100 has similar sounds than Tyros (and I can tell you it is true), but KN2600 hasn't similar sounds than KN7000 (hasn't soloist sounds).

My feeling is: PSR2100 is much more similar to Tyros (O.S., sounds, styles, keys, harmonizer) than KN2600 to KN700.

I would like to know if really KN2600 sounds are similar to KN7000 listening both at external amplifier and loudspeakers.

Hi Ken,

I had an KN6000 and I traded it for a PR54 piano. If you go to http://www.technics.com and look at the specs for both the KN2600 and the PR54 they are very close to the same. I can tell you the the PR54 has very good sound. The instruments are basicly the same as the KN7000 and many of the Styles are the same as the KN2600.

I beleive that you can not go wrong with either the KN2600 or the KN7000 but I would check the manual of the 2600 to see if it says it will play KN7000 disks. The PR54 does and it as made the instrument so much better because there are a lot of styles and songs available for the KN7000 and many of the features are the same.

But as Lloyd said if it's the KN7000 you really want then don't buy the KN2600. They are both great instruments but the KN7000 is top dog (for now).

Best Wishes Shopping as it part of the fun.
Heather

You've heard the expression "hindsight is 20/20 vision", right? Well, I too moved from playing an organ into keyboards and my first Technics was a KN1500 my wife bought me for a surprise. Had I known at the time that the KN3000 was available, I would have sent her back for an upgrade. The KN1500 did more than any other keyboard I had seen or heard, and I was very happy with it, but I just didn't know about the KN3K and how much more it could do. The KN2400/2600 is a mid-model for the reason it's made for people who don't want or need to go into depth with their composing or sequencing. The more you want to do, the more tools you need to do it with. That simple. You get what you pay for. If you have a dealer that is also a user and teacher, then they can honestly show you the difference your money buys. When you consider price over the long run, you'll regret not going for the more expensive model. At least, that's how I felt. (This is one person's opinion, and does not reflect on that person's mental stability or sanity when keyboards are concerned.}
