Hi Howard.

The years passing on make many types of 'white plastic' become a kind of yellow,
and if the sun (also tobacco smoke) has reached the keyboard, the color will change faster.
Does everything works as it should, and the color is just a cosmetic issue?
If so, I think the saying 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' is a very good advise.

And thinking about it, white looks like plastic, a bit yellow'ish make it look like ivory. wink smile

I agree with GJ. Taking your keyboard apart and exchanging all the white keys could go terribly wrong. How about trying to clean your existing keys?

Roger, I have commented on our site, the keys are in sets of an octave 2 white mouldings and 1 black. they do not respond to cleaning as the type of plastic includes the hinge/pivot point and has to be flexible so this does mean the plastic is softer than the type used in the KN7000 and also much more prone to yellowing over time. My son's KN1500 had some broken keys so I had a chance to experiment with different ways of whitening without any form of success, the yellowing seems to go right through the key rather than just the first few thousands of an inch which could be cut away with cutting pastes.
Regards John.

Hi, I thank you for your responses
the keys are very yellow, ich (always in the sun)no smoker and there is a white key that was broken and
glue by the guy who sold me the kn2600
But my friend in Pennsylvania have purchase a kn2600 from Waterloo ONT. and the
sdcard was not working
So he bought another one in Florida that was perfect
My friend ,he is a technician ,and he will send me the keys
from the first kn2600 that the sdcard was not working
But the keys are white and not yellow ,ich
Thats why I am asking you my friends How can I open my kn2600 so I can change the keys by patch.
My KN2600 is on top my Audya5 So the comparation of the white
keys yellow and white I have a hard time to accept the comparation.Althought my kn2600 is working very good
I am suppose to receive the keys next week
Thanks again
Howard

Maybe a service manual would do good, or maybe your friend that took the keys from the other KN could guide you how to replace?

The servicemanual would be good to have, but unfornately I dont have any.
Another long shot could be to ask Walt Tenay if he still have the servicemanual avalable?

But, it's quite a long time since this post was published, and I have not seen any post by Walt for a very long time.

Last post was September 2015 as far as I have found out by a search:

Hi When you dismantle you keyboard the Keyframe is part of the top case if you can try not to disturb the connections as the type of connections that Technics have used are great if they are not disturbed too much, any tarnish that has formed can cause the processor to read as a fault and will stop the unit from working. If I remember you should be able to remove the contact boards without disconnection and then gently fold them out of the way, letting you gently unmount the key sets and feed them out of the top case.
wishing you luck regards John.
