Just had my SD1 Plus upgraded with USB/SD card. Haven't had a chance to gig with it yet, or to load all I need. I would suggest you contact AJ, he can far better explain the tech stuff and the advantages thereof.
Ciao,
Jerry

Jerry hello from ireland and thanks very much for your reply , im sure your sd1 will be much more user friendly now that it has the usb/sd , I am getting this job carried out on wednesday , I do have backing tracks already on the juke box
And if I do not take these off now will I not be able to access them when the upgrade is done ? Also you say all you need to load , I have a load of backing tracks on compact flash , backed up on pc and in playlists , so is it as straight forward as just getting an sd card now and or usb and simply loading my oky flash folder on the new sd or usb and putting into my sd1 and access my backing tracks , or is there a lot more to it , setting everything up , I would be anxious to read how you got on and exactly what you were told when upgrading, and what you will lose or gain , you mention also to ask tech questions to Aj is he engineer on sound from nz ?? Thank you once again for replying and I hope many more will join here with their review on the upgrade

AJ is the U.S. Ketron distributor and an engineer who worked with Ketron in developing many of the Ketron features - he knows Ketron.
I had the floppy drive replaced with a USB drive a couple of years ago, and it was limited to less the one gig. The new USB drive allows for at least 32GB for the USB drive and about the same for the card drive. It can also play MP3's and WAV files.
When I got the SD1Plus back, it was like a new instrument, meaning that it was empty, so, back to creating and saving registrations, and the hundreds of midi files that I have saved on the PC ALL were edited on the Midjay Plus. I have to re-edit them - again - on the SD1Plus. For now, I'm using the SD1+ as a controller for the Midjay Plus. The Midjay Plus is my 'go to' arranger as I also use it with midi accordion and more frequently with midi files and a keytar. I'd check with both AJ, and on your side of the ocean, you have Tonewheeldude. Good luck.

Jerry , sorry for delay , but in all honesty I thank you so much for all the info , you have really gone out of your way to explain this procedure to me , I think the hard drive on the sd1+ is only 8gig so to begin 32gb is a lot of midi files and mp3's , in relation to mid jay
Have you ever come across the mersih plus
From oky web , i think now they have developed the merish 4 ,
Worth a look into,
Ill let you know how it all goes , i have the Usb/sd on order for me , turned out last wednesday they were none left , so now Jerry after your help I cant wait to get going , yes a lot of work to put all my files on Sd , and edit them all again ,
Arghhh!!! But as you said when you got yours back it was like a new machine ,
So do you actually lose everything on the jukebox , and your patterns and beats??
Ill be back to you over the next few days Jerry , thanks again
Martin ...

Martin,
Thanks for considering upgrading your SD1 Plus with the new USB & SD Audio Card reader.

To better answer your question, although you will loose your 6GB Factory Hard drive, you will gain the following:-
* Up to 64GB storage on either/both USB stick or SD card. (Just as we advised, Jerry, you can get a 32GB SD card, load all your stuff on there, stick it into the USB & SD Audio Card reader and player and ... just as you did with your internal HD, forget about it. It will always be there with you so you don't get to your show and realized you may have forgotten your songs at home!
* Capability to now play MP3, Karaoke and Wave audio files in addition to the Midi and Karaoke files you could play before. This is the big PLUS which puts you now in total control of your performance ... thus even eliminating the need for a DJ when you take a break.
* Easy transfer of data between your keyboard and your computer ... since the dinosaur Floppy is nowhere to be found. This also means you no longer have any need for the old PC/MAC cable which you needed previously to transfer data between the SD1 Plus's HD and your computer.
* Accessing files on your USB/SD card is way faster than it was with the floppy drive to.
* You loose about 0.8lbs since the Floppy drive, hard drive and it's assembly are all removed in exchange for the faster, lighter USB & Audio Card reader!

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Hi job done, well not quite Usb/sd reader in and problems problems , to keep this topic short, I will try to explain best i can, ketron sd1 is old now , so firstly not long after buying this keyboard the motherboard went down, it was exchanged and in its place the SD1+ board was fitted and worked perfectly,so now we have the sd1 sound card with the sd1+ motherboard and software 2.0 , now I have decided to upgrade with removing the floppy drive for the USB/Sd card reader, the software version now loaded think its 4.0 when using factory styles nothing on the 1st page will play , you may get 1 note but thats it , whereas 2nd and 3rd pages work fine , so has anyone come across this problem with software versions , and what would be the correct software version to use to get the keyboard fully functional again , any help greatly appreciated urgently.

Lo malo de este sistema es que solo es compatible con USB 2.0. Los pendrive de 3.0 no son compatibles.que lastima!!
