I have read many of the posts on here and other forums regarding this topic. I have owned and used headworn mics in the past. I do not like them. However, I’ve decided to give it a try once more. What wireless brand, model, specifications should I investigate?

I've used the Crown CM-311A for decades, both wired and wireless using a Samson wireless system. I sincerely believe it is the best headset mic on the market, and it is the mic of choice for many pro entertainers.

Good luck,

Gary cool

I'm with you. Tried a couple times, last time a bunch of jobs and just couldn't get use to the high maintenance while on my head. If there was something less obtrusive, with less concern about the mic being 'perfectly' placed, then I might try again some day too.

Funny, I called Shure to ask a question and the tech guy referred me to the Crown-CM311A - how crazy is that?

I've tried several, including Gary's Crown, which is quite good. For my voice and comfort I prefer the AKG to which DNJ referred. When I use one now, it is that one.
I also have a Shure SM35, and it is o.k., but isn't as crisp as the AKG or the Crown. I have not used it since I got the AKG.
If you like a Shure SM58, you'll like the Shure SM35 headset. It is quite inexpensive.
As always, you'll get differing opinions.

I have a couple crown C311 A as well. However, as good as Crown is, I’ve never gotten used to the restrictions of headworn mikes.

These are pricey but work very well plus very little hassle I hear. Our church uses them.

I used the Countryman E6 for just one day, very lightweight and comfortable, but not a good mic for a vocalist. It had lousy feedback rejection and lacked depth. Plus, it is very delicate and expensive.

Good luck,

Gary cool
