I just got a notice that my long awaited pa1000 has shipped. It will be here wednesday. I am so looking forward to loosing sleep for a few days and getting used to my new board. The tilt screen alone will be a lifesaver because I have no sight in my right eye, therefore no depth perception. also many upgrades in styles, sounds and features that will
really be helpful. I would like to hear from anyone that has gotten one
to hear what they think of it. I know Zuki did not like his but I didn't want the pa4X because of no speakers and I'm not a fan of sliders. I think the sounds and styles will be better than my pa900 and I just love the touch of the 900's keyboard. For me it is just right. I guess it's because I played B3 for so many years so I like a lighter touch. I will probably camp out on the sidewalk wed morning and wait for the fedex truck lol. I waited 2 months and Its not that long for most people, it was for me.

Congrats Mel, I'm pretty sure you'll love it. It's a vast improvement over the PA900. Just the power of the built-in speakers alone it's worth to upgrade. We'll be waitimg for your review.

MEL, congratulations on your 1000 arrival. You will really enjoy the pop up touch screen - one of the best features.

Don't listen to my rants about it. Everyone has different needs and I'm sure you're going to love it, especially moving up from the 900.

WELLLL. It came today WOW what a keyboard. one problem. I can't figure out how to get all my old user styles out of the pa900 and into the 1000
If anybody can help, that would be great. What a sound it has I can't set the EQ like the 900 because it will blow me out of the house. Its a whole new incredible keyboard and will take a lot of fiddling but wow does it sound good.

Mel,

Go into the global settings on the 900 and there are tabs at the bottom of the screen.

Select utility and DISABLE the factory settings on the 900. (when you turn off the 900, the factory settings will automatically be back on)

From there, Simply select which style you want to extract

Note which bank and position the style is from

Put a USB stick in the 900 and COPY the style to the stick. Save to the USB stick and name the new set similar to the style or song you wish to use it as.

LOAD the stick in the 1000. BREAK DOWN (open, open) the .set to the lowest form, which reveals the old style.

ON THE 1000, note you have a couple SAVE options. Make sure you SELECT THE TOP ONE WHICH ALLOWS YOU TO ASSIGN TO ANY USER BANK.

After saved to a USER BANK, use the drop down to rename the style if you wish.

This is off top my head because the 1000 is boxed up.

Call me or pm if you need more help and I can walk you through it.

best

HEY GUYS AND GALS IT WORKS GREAT. All my styles work perfectly and most of the performances work. That's an easy fix. Wow I love this thing. One more day and I could take it to work. Just
a few little substitutions and the style performances. All the styles sound super. THANKS TO JOHN AND ZUKI and everybody on this forum for all your help and support. For anyone switching to the 1000, It won't transfer files from backup. to have to save all to a new folder on you usb stick then it works flawless.

THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE

redface sometimes the obvious escapes us (ME!!! redface ) ...
I was looking to see if there was a way to take one style from my Pa900 and put it on the USB ... when I got to the step of pressing 'SAVE' and saw the folder 'ALL' I didn't think about opening the folder and 'drilling down' to the style I wanted to put on the USB ...
Just me having a brain fart !!!

thanks all ...

Yes you can Jim, that is not a problem. You can even add those PA4X styles that are missing to the factory protected style section so that basically the factory styles will match those of the PA4X.

I have only had the PA1000 for less than 24 hours and therefor my first observations should be taken with a pinch of salt.
On the positive:
The keybed is not as bad as expected and at least better than the PA700.
The DRUMS are absolutely great in every sense of the word.
The TC Vocal harmonizer works great too and although reputedly the same as on for instance the PA800 ( my alltime favourite Korgie) it sounds better, I think.
Pianos have improved but only marginally I think. I've done away with evaluating pianos on arranger keyboards, I find that my very old yamaha P80 piano simply plays and sounds better. Although I must admit that the Genos has impressive pianos and elec. pianos.
SOUNDWISE apart from the significant boost of the drums, the most striking improvements are imho in the Brass section, and to a lesser degree in the guitar section.
On the downside so far : OUT OF THE BOX it simply sounds crap, full stop !!! The songbook is a joke, I cannot imagine many folks in a shop being taken aback by the overall performances by listening to any of the songbook entries. Probably the salesmean will have to push the demo buttons, haha !!!
So in other words, this baby needs an incredible amount of in depth tweaking, in other words I will be offline for the next few months frown
Finally as regards the amplification and speakers. A significant better amplification than the PA700 but not on par with the famous Korg PA800.

regards
John

Hi Donny,

Not sure whether it will be a keeper but I would say that the odds are good. Definitely no Genos for me....The PA1000 set me back roughly half the price of a PA4X(+speaker), go figure.....
I still have not come across a lot of truly in depth tweaking of these PA series so I guess there is work to be done......

John

And that is what it's all about, isn't it?
If what we choose fit for our needs and use, we should be very happy.
Congrats, and salut for a looooong time joy and lots of happiness with your PA. smile

Btw.
If I should think about my needs and use, I would probably have more than enought with the KMA.
But, Norwegian coins are rounded, so they have to roll, not made to be hided in the bank or under the madrass.
That's why I have more than I need, well, except from money ....
