This is because it doesn't sound the same or better than what you have been using for at least the last two years :-)

What would help is if you could set out clearly what you had expected it to achieve against what it actually achieved.

If you were comparing it to what you were used to then you were never going to be impressed were you ?

I guess you are right, but what am I to compare to? Of course, the 3X is the bar in my scenario. I spent countless hours mapping everything, so I don't feel guilty giving it the best I could, including live, which is a whole new ballgame.

Here's what I thought I'd get out of it:

1. Portability - 10 lbs is not an issue any longer
2. Screen - although pretty, it glares like crazy, not the 3X
3. Key bed - the killer for me
4. Sounds - no comparison, like someone gutted my body of work

These are just a few that made me scratch my head. But you never know until you try. Believe me, the world stopped when this thing arrived because I ignored a lot of chores to map this thing out. I wanted to take it on my 7 day road swing.

At the end of my day, it's about inspiration and the 1000 doesn't cut it on that front. Just not my cup of tea..........

Jim, you could live with screen glare by placing a piece of atiglare material over scree. You can even live with key feel, for the most part, if you have to. BUT, poor sounds are never acceptable.

Good luck,

Well, they may not be poor sounds, but poor compared to a KB that costs 1 1/2 to 2 times as much ... which I would expect from any KB ... had I gone from my Kn6000 to my Kn1000, I definitely would be disappointed in the sound ...

zuki - you gave it a shot and it didn't work out for you ... best of luck with whatever is next ...
Also, I would love to hear about your 7 day road trip ...

The pa4x should be the logical next step up

Based on the Youtube demos I've heard I'm surprised the PA1000 sounds so much inferior to a PA-3X. We discussed the strumming guitar example recently, PA1000 was very convincing. I listened to the nice new piano, maybe not as good as the PA4x, but worse than the PA3x? I loved some trumpets, trombones, even strings in some demos...
WaveROM should be as large as that of the PA3X, too, or even more.
So could it be due more to the internal speakers as well as, to a certain degree, a "manipulated perception" in connection with the cheap keybed feel?

Hey, I tried. Sorry I mislead some by giving merit, which it has. It's not for me though and when the 3X fired up at my job today, I was in my element. The room knows, believe me.

Now if I can get rid of this flu.......arggggggg. Came home, put the electric heater pad on 10 and slept another 6 hours. Plain awful. Trying to rid this before I leave Sunday.

It's rough trying to work when we're sick. Done it many times. Get well soon and clear the decks for the PA4X!
