I forgot what was the official reason Technics went out of business with keyboards?

This statement I don't understand.

Why didn't they then stay in the business?

Surely no company will kill a good, efficient and profitable bussiness!

I liked Technics keyboard too, but I think it's about time to let it go. wink

it was the pet project of the owner (I think). Once he died they decided it was not cost effective to continue to modernize as they had exhausted what they could do with the existing technology and couldn't keep up with the competition.

couldn't keep up with the competition.

Scott ... are you certain about that? ... as I recall their sales were pretty good, and they were still cutting edge ...
I believe I read at the time that it was just a business decision by Matsushita to concentrate on other areas such as Panasonic ... whatever, I am sorry they are gone and pretty sure that had they stayed in business I might have their TOTL board ... that said, I am very happy with my KORG ...

Well, when a shift in focus happens, a profitable or at least a potentially good business is sold rather than killed. This is what Roland did with Cakewalk a while ago. But it is equally true that sometimes it simply doesn't work out, as with Cakewalk.

It might remain a mistery, Technics' end that is.

It was Panasonic, that owned Technics that desided to go out of the music instrument business.
And of course it is money related, as everything else. more profit, more profit and even more profit.
As soon as there are no more money to gain by produce and sell arranger keyboards, we'll se the fall of the keyboards we love to play ....
It's the nature of business, money to the shareholders is goal no 1.

Btw, do you see how similiar Genos design is compared to Korg?
Yamaha have business interests / ownership in Korg.
Just wait and see, something will happen in not too long ........ rolleyes

Yeah,
and now Yamaha managed to rip off some $/£/NKR off my account as well. Is it worth the slimming process of my wallet?
That question is probably going to be answered during the next week or so...... crazy
