I recently purchased a Kodac 128mg sd card
and transfered a back up of my 8mg card using the USB Reader/Writer with no problem
but I found that the Jukebox would not recognise the card when I tried to do a check out. I found that the Panasonic card
has an extra contact. It would seem that only
the Panasonic card will work with Jukebox.
Has anybody else found this problem?.
Brian.

never tried another make of card yet... does formatting the card in jukebox before doing the restore make any difference?

I Have done a format in the keyboard
and have used the reader/writer to write
a back up but cannot use check out or format
when useing Jukebox. When the sd button is
pressed I get the message sd card not found.
I appreciate your help.

like I say I've never tried another make of card yet, and don't like the sound of this missing contact at all...

I ask about the format because you don't need sd selected to format. You can leave pc as the selection and try a format from the settings menu? If that doesn't work, maybe it's money back time?

Hi Alec
Thanks for your reply.
If you look at the contact points in the
reader/writer you will see six in a row
and a seventh on the right side a little
lower which matches with the Panasonic card.
It appears that other makes dont make contact
with this point. If this is so I feel that
Matshushita should state this fact, and save
people like me the trouble of returning them,
I tried other sd cards from digital cameras
with the same result. I have managed to get
my money back, and trying to get a Panasonic
card but two dealers in my aria have had them on order for weeks. Not good news, I think kn7000 owners should be warned.

hmm... yes this should be pointed out. All my other stuff is compact flash (with one unfortunate smart media ) so this is worth knowing. Glad you got your money back.

Thanks for this very interesting information. Does this finding have implications about third party SD card readers as well? Specifically, must a KN 7000 user use both Panasonic cards and readers as opposed to third party products?

I have 3 different makes of SD card and had no problems with any of them. They are Panasonic, I.O Data and SanDisk. All contacts look identical and are actually gold plated edge contacts on the PCB. None have a missing contact. Having said this, I have only used them in the KN7000 not the Card reader.

well so far, the theory is that the problem is the encryption for digital audio, which goes through the card reader, but if you have the same number of contacts on your cards, perhaps the key is this extra (missing on kodak card) contact, so these cards may work for audio??

I think lexar also mention digital music players for their sd cards. If they mention digital music players this must include the panasonic players. And if the panasonic players are loaded through jukebox or a derivative program, maybe lexar also should work?

I was just about to order a Lexar 128 Meg SD card. Does anyone have working experience with this brand?
