Geeze - that thing looks like a freakin' surfboard! That's too much real estate for this dude. (I wasn't really in the running, anyway ... I just like to look at new gear. I'm a rubber necker)

Dave the Genos is 48.5 by 18 by 5.75 inches.
Oddly it is very light and was very easy to
Transport. I agee, it is large.

Weight, rather than size, is a bigger issue for me.

Unfortunately, the design of the Genos is unnecessarily big, as well as the fact that there are no 61 keys is a big miss .
And yet I ordered him and I hope he fits the current place, and otherwise the place will have to be adapted.

In my ears Genos sounds better than my T4, seems like they somehow made it sound less CD'ish.
It's an eyecandy, and screenshots of the touchscreen layout looks nice.
Not gigging anymore, and as "only a homeplayer" this is the first Yamaha kb that really ever tempted me.
T4 was bought mainly because of the huge stylelibrary out there.

Now I have some thoughts about Genos versus PA4X/76. It's a big gap in price, and is it worth it for my use?
Just before Genos was launched, I was close to buy Korg.....
Darn, maybe buy both ................. crazy

Yeah, G-70 is a great keyboard, buildt as a tank and heavy duty,
I regret I sold mine a couple a years ago, same as SD1. Miss both, but still cannot stop dream about a Technics/Ketron mix.
Techtron or Kethnics mix would probably blow the rest away......
....or maybe not. confused

But to at least be able to play all my Roland styles as well as "best of Roland" stuff enclosed, I bought a BK-7m w/FC-7 at local eBay tonight.
Hopefully it will work well connected to my Akai MPK61, KMA or even T4.
We'll see when it get here... confused

Good question.
Has been watching for a long time, and nothing to see at local "ebay" or in Scandinavia.
Got this stuff at a very low price, and the module will probably fit well for vArranger if I buy later.
Or a midi Accordeon .....

Its typically Yamaha Design..
Just have a look at the Montage 8
Thats really really huge..

As a homeplayer, i dont care about weight or size
The Genos looks great, visually.
But there is 2 thinks that are important in a keyboard
Sound and functionallity

WAY too big for most of my stages. Wouldn't even fit in the trunk of my Ford Fusion! Not that I WANT it to!

Yeah me too!
I would be first in the queue for a Technics / Ketron, and wouldn't even care about the price.
Still some sounds on my KN7000 that are unmatched by any board after all these years and some styles that I cannot manage without.

I think the size is fine...I am a home player...18: deep is not that much...take a measure tape & pull it to 18:...not that bad.

As to Korg vs Yamaha....I know its conversed all the time...but for the music I like and play...the Yamaha has sounds and styles that fit that music much better.
BUT, the last Korg I had was PA2XPRO. It had a lot of poor quality sound issues...if they fixed them all...then well OK.

I have always thought Yamaha arrangers have a nice sweet sound...Just saying....IMHO

So the Genos is around 4" smaller in width and only about 1/4" in depth, but 3 kgs or over 6lbs lighter than the TYROS 5 76 keyboard; who would have guessed??

Next keyboard you need to get would be one called a TARDIS! Small on the outside, but big on the inside he he.

I had to set up in an area about 4x5 ft last week with my Pa4x. The next time I will bring my S970 and use the keyboard speakers. They sound pretty good in a living room sized venue.

One of the reasons I became interested in the PA4X was the prospect of it being able to double as the top board in a two-tier rig (with my Yamaha CP4 on the bottom). Unfortunately, Tyros was two big for that role and Genos suffers from the same problem. As someone else has pointed out, it doesn't really NEED to be that big.
