Not sure how accurate it is.

One concern I would have with the Genos is the fixed screen. I have real issues with the fixed screen reading it outside on my PSR S970.

Keep in mind that just 5 years ago, you could not read any keyboard screen outdoors. In this respect, keyboards have really changed when it comes to displays. Additionally, TFT and Supertwist technology now make it so you can see the screen at just about any angle, and with greater clarity and brightness. Not something I would worry about at this point. Also, when performing outdoors, most players set up somewhere in the shade. Other than marine devices, such as GPS/Plotters, it is nearly impossible to see the display of any device in direct sunlight. Years ago, I used to carry a large, black umbrella with me that attached to my keyboard stand to provide shade for outdoor jobs when there was no shade available - it was a necessity. Also, the vast majority of players rarely perform outdoors, too hot, too buggy, too easy to get caught in a sudden downpour, and more often than not, too many drunks with drinks in their hands who want to talk with the musician or DJ.

All the best,

Gary cool

and you will probably have the same problems without it being able to tilt and adjust to different light glare angles to see...

Donny, if they went to supertwist, direct sunlight actually would make the screen brighter and not reflect back at you. TFT Supertwist allows the light to go through the display, then reflects the light back through the images with greater intensity. This technology has been around in the recreational marine industry for more than a decade, but the music industry seems to have failed to pick up on it until just this past year. I guess we will have to wait and see how actual owners/users feel about the display.

On another forum, Bachus stated that the display was recessed a few centimeters and this would make pressing the bottom of the screen icons difficult, however, I just watched one of the demos where I could clearly see the screen was only recessed about 1/2-inch at most, and maybe less. And the performer had absolutely no trouble accessing those lower screen icons.

Just another week or two before we get an actual, hands-on assessment of what and what not is great about the Genos. You oughta make a road trip to Frank's place when they arrive so you can give us some insight. I'm too busted up and crippled to drive that far.

All the best,

Gary cool

I'm by no means and expert but I have had several Korg arrangers (Pa800, Pa2 XPro, Pa3x, Pa476, I've had Tyros2, Tyros4, Tyros5-76, PSR 3000, S900, s910, s970). The only problem I ever had was reading outdoors in bright sun, but where I played outdoors they had a canopy so the problem was solved. Seems to me no one has laid hands yet on the Genos but some are saying they have issues with the fixed screen, how do you know it will be an issue?

Maybe it's because I'm young and have good vision that I've never found it to be a problem?

smile smile smile Steve, you have officially redefined G.A.S. Hey, I'm with you; who needs to eat. Plus, anyone that can't find what they want at Frank's, we can just redirect them to your house smile.
