Great write up by Bad Mister, I have a lot of respect for him.
My thoughts on the Genos is that it pretty much is what all the Tyros 3 and onwards should have been...
BUT I still fail to learn HOW the Genos is NOT a new version of a tyros that is wrapped in black casing, a new operating system, touch screen and less buttons with some new knobs and a joystick... If it were called Tyros 6 it would still make sense to me...
After looking through the specs I cant see anything that really differentiates itself from the typical Arranger category...
After watching the Sweetwater demo video from Martin Harris about the Genos, if you closed your eyes and imagined every time he said "Genos" and swapped it with "Tyros", you could actually substitute that video for a Tyros. there is actually no difference other than the part where he mentions the knobs and "touch screen".
Montage against Motif - yes - definitely they are two completely unique devices... but Genos and Tyros.. I dont see it.
Im still probably going to by the Genos lol

I just want the right sounds and effects to make a "kick butt" backing track to sing songs to brighten someone's day. I want the enjoyment of building the arrangement from the ground up. Simple.
The $5000 price of the Tyros/Genos vs Montage may be nothing more than Yamaha perceives that the average person who buys their arrangers has the financial ability and the willingness to pay more so they charge more.

Yamaha will shoot themselves in the foot if they release the new S series replacement MOTL arranger....they want to sell as many Genos units first at 5k then maybe a year later bring out to lower less featured model makes sense.
Also proofs that according to Yamaha USA, the Genos does not need deep synth edditing and other pro features because if you need those, you need to buy the Montage
Makes me wonder why Korg still puts in all the effort to have a full blown synth engine and all those other pro features in the Pa4x... because according to bad mister, Genos users do not need nor want them...

The Montage has to offer - more sounds’ - 3 times the sample memmory of the Genos - deep sound edditing - huge amount of arps 10k + over 2k user arps - audio over usb - top knotch daw integration with montage connect - 61 and 88 key versions - Even better live controllers, the knobs are encoders and more - onboard deep edditing and Sound creation - 2 dsp/sound vs 1 on the Genos - FM engine - super knob - the 4 rows of 8 buttons to the right that make for an increible live interface
Genos has to offer - styles, multipads - sa2 sounds - graphical organ flutes - ensemble sounds - double professional sequencer with edditing features - easier understandable user interface
It almost makes me wonder why Tyros and Genos are so much more expensive? (Well actually i know, the reason is Genos users are prepared to pay more )
And then there is me... wanting all of this in a single 88 key instrument... And being prepared to pay as much as €6000..
