First time site user, not computer savvy, technically declined, who can help?

Loaded 32 songs into my new 256 sd card, which are now "default"
Want to pick most used ones and put in "favorites".
This worked perfectly this summer on the 8mb card, can't get it to work now.
Followed instructions fact. book page 150
Got as far as #5

#6 = Select song but the default list does not show so how can I select??
If I bring up the default list through LOAD, there is no way to transfer to Favorites there.

hold the SET button (no 16 switch at bottom of screen) the page changes then choose your position in the favorites screen.
