Found this very interesting video - about the Mellotron, used sort of as an 'arranger' keyboard ... quite a few years ago ...

I think this beats the Mellotron. Its called a "Chamberlin" Jerry Lewis always loved gadgets and tech toys.

The first time I became aware of the Mellotron was when a band called King Crimson used it in their concerts. I fell in love with it after hearing "In the garden of the crimson king". Fantastic sound(s)!

Believe it or not, at recently as 1990, there was a group of entertainers, supposedly including Stevie Wonder and Billy Joel who were supporting the maintenance of the Melotron. At the time, a new one was about $250,000.00.

Most of the orriginal Melotron sounds can be found in the Nord sample librarie...
Somehow Nord got the rights for the orriginal melotron master tapes..
