Donny that has to be the best pro demo ever. It help me understand where keyboards are heading. AND – maybe Fran was right; those Roland sound great.

Can you imagine how his mind was working? He knew where to go every minute. I like it. The man is a pro.

I build one of these stands, incredible what you can do with them. Tough very very expensive, but you can build exactly what you want/need. I had a 3 keyboardsetup back then with a huge amount of modules and everything fit needly.

To bad, all that got stolen from me.. i will see if i can post a picture of that, if i can find one.

But one of the coolest Demo's by Ed Diaz. He is incredible, and even outperforms scott tibbs as Roland Demo man.


Still miss my Roland V-synth, still my favorite synth of all times. That vocoder is just incredible, as is the VA and VL parts..


Rumors say however the V-synth will return soon as a VCB plugin in a new super worlstation by Roland. (VCB are plugins based on a V-engine, DCB or ACB engine)

My ancient Ultimate Support "pipe" stand is just as adjustable, just as easily customized, just as stable and even lighter in weight. I can break it down quickly, but I don't; I just fold it flat and slide it in the van.
Set up or take down is like, two seconds!
I also made a smaller one that folds flat in 10 seconds. I made it from spare parts, of which I still have a lot around.

Best stand ever (if you only considered weight, durability, functionality, flexibility, and ease of use). Not the prettiest 'girl' in the room but you're sure to end the night with a 'happy ending' . BTW, mine is at least 30-40 years old and is still as good as new, unlike some of the ladies I dated back then .

Yes, I got mine in mid-80s. I built an elaborate one in 88, with three tiers and additional racks on both sides for mixers and modules. It stayed in place for 6 years. I still have all the pieces plus more.

During the 80's the Ultimate support and Knights tube stands were the choices if you used more than one keyboard plus drum machines, table top sound modules and mixers..

For a while I needed to hold 2 keyboards , plus another for bass.. a couple sound modules , a drum machine and a mixer..

Uncle Dave and I came up with some interesting configurations..

BTW: my gear was split between Roland and Yamaha, and a Korg module..


Yamaha TX 81z for tine piano DX7 sound.
Yamaha rx123 drum machine.
Roland JX10 main keyboard
Roland Juno2 for color sounds.
Roland SH101 for bass.

This was my favorite set up at the time.

The keyboard stand was so adaptable .. changing keyboards was easy...and we did change often...ALL Brands...

Fran I can’t remember using or seeing a Yamaha TX 81z --- it has to be a good 30 years ago. It was considered one of the best at that time.
