Here's an idea. Since most of the active members here are approaching 90, love nursing homes, and love socializing with each other, I propose that we choose a centrally located, mutually agreed upon nursing home, staff it with young, attractive, gold-digging AD's and staff, and all move in together. I've listed some of the pro's and con's for your consideration.

PRO'S:
1. Access to a variety of equipment without having to go to the music store
2. No huge internet bills to post to SZ; everybody's already here in the flesh
3. We could learn from each other first hand; for instance, Russ could teach Gary another chord (for a total of four)
4. An opportunity to meet at least one Democrat
5. We wouldn't need to bring in outside entertainment (at least for the first week)
6. With multiple Ketrons on the premises, there would probably always be one available that worked
7. Nightly talent show featuring a different non-arranger instrument each night. Attendance would be mandatory (except for 'accordion' night)
8. I would not be joining you

CON'S:
1. I would not be joining you
2. Listening to Nigel and Russ discuss guitars all day
3. Helping Fran move the G70
4. Mandatory attendence at Mark's group therapy sessions
5. Listening to Synthzoner's original songs
6. Listening to various Arranger versions of Bad, Bad Leroy Brown
7. Daily tech lectures by Bachus (and refuted by Abacus)
8. Having to dig a 'trench' somewhere on the premises for Donny to be in

Feel free to add other Pros and Cons.

That's a lot funnier now than it will be in 5-6 years!

Along this line ... I was playing at a senior center this past weekend ... and something happened that I have been anticipating for years ... we were playing a mix of 1930s/1940s music plus some 1950s/1960s early rock ... and ...

A resident yelled out: "FREEBIRD"!

Not a staff member, but a RESIDENT yelled this out ... (he was probably the youngest resident, maybe in his late 60s in age ...

And ... we played a 2 minute shortened version of Freebird, complete with a (brief) guitar solo in the flavor of the tune ... :-) I think they were shocked! :-) Then I broke into Stairway to Heaven - just the intro (acoustic guitar and flutes), the guitar solo, and the ending ... just for fun ... got some laughs, and probably a lot of "What is that?!" looks too!

I always wondered when this would happen, and it did just a couple of days ago! This definitely shows the changing population at "old folks homes" and such, as the years go by! :-) The youngest in the senior centers / retirement places grew up on rock'n'roll!
