I have an extensive library of original Technics software and MIDI files for my KN6500, a collection which began when I purchased the KN2000 in 1993. I am desperately on the lookout for a hard drive (new or pre-owned). Please help! Many thanks.

Neil .... I assume you are talking about an on-board hd ... I have the HD SX6 and amongst other places (if you do a 'google' search on HD SX6) you should be able to get info is the following: www.keysoftservice.ch/

Neil,

Technote use to carry the SX6 and I think they still do, and it comes completely set up and ready to go. I bought mine from them when they had a half-price sale a couple of years ago. I, too, have a KN6500. It is really great having the hard drive. I have backing tracks to about 900 songs on it. It's very easy to use and I doubt that there is any way I could possibly fill it up.

Neil .... Also, there are 2 models, the HD SX3 and HD SX6 .... I felt the options available on the SX6, such as alpha sort, were well worth the price difference ...

Maybe I'm wrong, but did'nt Technote perform
a "last in the stock" sale some time ago?
I think this HD's are pretty hard to find
now, unless somebody don't mind remove one
already installed in a KN.
It's sad that it is so, I know people who is
hounting for HD's for KN3 and KN5 as well.

Neil,

Check out the following site:
http://www.wtenaykeyboardstudios.com/drives.html

According to the website, Walt Tenay still carrys hard drives for technics keyboards and has comparison data set up really nice comparing the SX3 and SX6. He has always answered my emails and any questions I have. I do agree with Tony that the SX6 is better than the SX3. Technote's website is down for modifications, so I couldn't see if they still carry them.

Hi Neil,

Taiyo in Germany www.taiyo.de/ still have a hard drive listed on their site at a cost of 665 euro. My KN6000 had an occasional buzz although I wasn't convinced that it was actually in the speaker. Sometimes it appeared to be a resonance in the music rest.

Cheers

Hi Len
I had a 6000 and a 6500. Both had that infuriating intermittent buzz regardless of whether I had the comic music stand fitted or not. Thankfully, Technics seemed to have cured it in the 7000. (Apart from the music stand for which they now have the cheek to want to charge us for something decent.)

Regards T.J
