At certain venues  I have to run the Tyros, Wireless mic and Powered speakers through a 25 ft. extension chord. 

The required amperage appears to be a low for the equipment.  There are trade offs for going for a lower gage chord namely flexibility, cost, and weight. 

Curious what gage chord people are using , and if they have experienced any damaged equipment with a higher (cheaper) gage extension?

I tend to stick with major 7th's, flatted fifths, augmented ... well, you get the idea .

Seriously though, depending on the powered speakers, at only 25ft, 16 ga. should be just fine (especially if your powered speakers are using class D amps, the rest of your SS equipment uses very little juice).

Thanks Chas for the input. I never had a problem with extension chords except or a leaf blower that would overheat with a 16 gage extension. Went to a better chord and problem was solved.

Just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be a problem with musical equipment.

It all depends upon the wattage. Anything over 400-watts total passing through a 25-foot extension cord would require 14 gauge. Over 600 watts, go with 12 gauge. The higher gauge wires would have a significant voltage drop with high wattage systems.

Donny, that power strip only has a 15 foot extension cord. He was asking about a 25 foot cord, which makes a huge difference. I know, 10 extra feet doesn't sound like much, but when it comes to heavy loads and voltage drop, that extra 10 feet can make a huge difference if the wire gauge isn't capable of handing the load.

Looks like I'll make sure I get a 14 or 12 gage extension depending on the flexibility. I hate fighting with the "Electric Spaghetti"
