HI ALL,
In this mornings paper is an ad for a 128 MB Secure Digital Card for 44.99 and a mail in rebate for 10.00 for a net cost of 34.99. I have a kn7000 coming so I am looking ahead and thinking I should be getting one or more of these cards.
IS THIS A GOOD PRICE?
It is at Fry's Electronics in San Jose, where i trade all the time for computer "stuff". the ad is good through Tuesday the 17th.
They also protect us on prices so if it is advertised cheaper in 30 days we are refunded the difference. Plus a 30 day return privlege.
I have often had them refund to me on high ticket items I have purchased from them. Never a problem.
What say you about this price point?
Thanks for your advice
Best to all

Hi there Bill
Gee it would certainly be a bargain here in Oz. Ay $35US it would equate to $52AUD. The best price I have found on the net here is $99AUD +S11AUD freight, for a 128mg Pretec, a brand which I know nothing about. If anyone out there has had experience of this brand I would appreciate any comments!!
Just for comparison I will run a few prices, from the same site, by you.
( have included the $11AUD freight in the equation )
Pretec 128 mg $110AUD = $73US
Sandisk 128 $157AUD = $104US
Toshiba 128 $209AUD = $139US
PANASONIC 128 $347AUD = $231US
And this is the cheapes site I have found here.
Unfortunately all the sites I have checked out in the U.K.and the U.S.A.have better prices, but do not ship these product outside the home country.
This should make you happier with your prices over there ( "hums spread a little happiness, slow fade and close" )
Regards to all
Eddie

Thanks Eddie for your reply. Based on what you wrote I boogied over to Fry's Electronics and bought the SD card. It turned out to be even a better deal.
IT was advertised at 44.99 with a 10.00 rebate making my cost 34.99.
They sold it to me at 39.99 and I just now mailed the 10.00 rebate form so my net cost is 29.99 for the 128 MG SD card manufactured by PQI. They are in the next town over from San Jose, towards San Francisco in Fremont.
This sale at Fry's ends tomorrow Tuesday at closing time if anyone in my area is interested in getting it.
They are at www.FrysOutpost.com for mail order. the sku number is 3250441.
Best to all

Digital Camera Warehouse http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/ have Sandisk 128MB cards for AUD$99 +AUD$7.70 p&p. and Exeltek http://www.exeltek.com.au
have another brand of 128MB cards for around AUD$90 + p&p.
256MB cards from these sources are around AUD$165 and AUD$145 respectively.

Cheers

Hi Eddie,
check out Australian Ebay http://listings.ebay.com.au/aw/plistings/list/category43476/index.html?from=R4

I've bought a few from there.
Panasonic SD Card
Sandisk SD Card
Note
The above 2 work with Kn7 PC SD Audio Writing Kit & Juke Box Software ( plus all the other kn7 SD files)

whereas another brand I bought PDC (sd card) works okay with the normal sd card files and the Panasonic SD CArd Reader/Writer , but it doesn't work with the Juke Box Software included in the Kit. Therefore I couldn't use it for Audio Files on the KN7, but was able to use it for styles, sequences etc

I usually stick to buying from the larger sellers rather than 1 of individuals, and I always check their Ebay ratings.

best wishes
Rikki

Hi all
Just want to thank Keith Len & Rikki for their help in the great SD card hunt!!
I'm very grateful for the info that some cards will not work with SD audio, so I think I will try a 128mb Sandisk. You also have all given me some more online shopping sites for future reference. Thanks guys.
This is a great place to meet helpful people, would someone please ask something I can asnswer ?
Regards to all
Eddie.

Hi Eddie,
I had originally thought that all sd cards were supposed to be identical. Maybe I found the only brand that didn't work with the
"juke box" software. I had managed to buy them at such a cheap price (at that time) that it didn't matter ( $40 to $45aud for 128mb wheras equivalent Sandisk's were selling for $99 to $110AUD). I ended up using them for midifiles , songs and styles.

I've been watching prices, and they just keep dropping ( on ebay). Probably best to just buy as you need them, rather than to stockpile.

bestwishes
Rikki
