I Play bass and keyboard in a cool band with some freinds from school. I'm looking for a good synth within my budget. Would you reccomend any of the one's listed below or another near this price range?

Alesis ION 49-Key 1K DSP Synthesizer $599.99

Roland Juno D 61-Key Synthesizer $649.99

Korg X5D 61-Key Synthesizer $599.00

Korg MS-2000B Analog Modeling Synth $749.99

Depends on what you're after.
BOth Alesis Ion and Korg MS2000 are good for analog emulations and other kind of purely synthetic sounds.
If that's all you need then I suggest you go for them.

If on the other hand you need sounnds like pianos , strings, organs, rhodes and some synth stuff as wel you'll be better off with something like the JUNO D which isn't really much of a synth when it comes down to analog sounds and synth textures but it has a little bit of everything so therefore it might be more useful to you.

Hey thanks alot. I'm looking for purely synth sounds. I Like the alesis ion alot but it only has 49 keys which may not be enough. If anyone knows of other synths not in my list above please tell me thanks.

If you can get your hands on one check out the Realistic Moog MG-1. These are awesome for leads and ambiance. These draw attention cause the look cool and they sound awesome.

i'd like to claim not be an ion enthusiast, but alas, thats exactly what i am. i love the ms2000, as well, but the ion was my first true synth and i am still amazed by its power. 49 keys seems limiting at first, but those 49 keys get a lot bigger. atleast, they did for me.

I think the Ion is great bang for the buck. 49 keys would probably work fine for me for playing a pure synth, but I do prefer 61 and if it were me and the sounds are comparable ( I've never played the MS2000B ) I would likely give the MS2000B the nod here.

If I remember right, the MG1 only has 32 keys ? That really was a great little synth though for what it was. It's even more amazing to me when I consider some of the other junk Radio Shack has had their name on over the years
