Tx all for the help.

Very busy right now and won't have much time with the PA4X. At least until next week.

I've got 30 days to decide. But it looks very favorable at this time.

Tx again.

Update:

I like the PA 4X and am pretty sure I'll keep it...I need another day with it.

There are some Yammie styles and voices I wish it had. I find the guitars on the 4X a bit weak but I also see that the 4X has a good editing system so I'm thinking I'll get what I want. The one voice that I miss the most is a good steel guitar as in the Yammie Hawaiian steel. I use that one a lot.

Regarding the TC Helicon harmonizer...It is something else...love it. I thought the Yammie harmonizer was good but I did find out what I was missing.

Probably sounds a bit wierd but I like the styles on the PA 4X better. I know this is subjective but the styles seem so much more alive and I love how I can drop parts of the styles in and out at the push of a button.

Regarding styles, I've taken a bit different approach with the PA 4X. For example a song like 'Send Me The Pillow That You Dream On' I used a jazzy ballad on the PA 4X as opposed to a more authentic 50's shuffle style that I would find on a Yammie. A purist would know the PA 4X style is not as authentic but I can see the folks, where I play, enjoying that style and not getting hung up on authenticity. I can see myself taking songs from the 40's and 50's and giving them a bit more of a modern twist.

Specific styles like a Johnny Cash song 'Ring Of Fire' might be hard to recreate on the PA 4X where there's a custom made style for that song found on the PSR forum. There are other songs like that that a person would have to get creative on the PA 4X.

Real time controls for live play are great on the PA 4X. That's a strong point.

Song Book/Set List appear to be a well organized way to do live shows. It might just be me, but I struggled a bit with my S970 and Tyros in that regard.

So far, so good. Back at it tomorrow.

By the way, I've been using my Space Station V.3 for sound with the PA 4X. Great sound.

Rog,

Nice review, seems as though you've discovered all the strong points that have had me owning Korg arrangers for quite a few years and have to believe the pluses in your quote are the same ones that have kept other SZ members using Korg.

I do miss that Yamaha Hawiaan guitar too. You many want to try the midi to style converter for a tune like "Ring of Fire."

Enjoy and congratulations on your Pa4x.

Hi Roger,
Korgs load samples, maybe down the track you could get a good steel guitar sound?or tweak the onboard one.

And as Stephen mentioned, pa4x has midi song to style convertor, some work quite well apparently, you may just be lucky.

There is a good Pedal Steel sound that I use a lot, but I'll have to bring the kb in to take a look at the name.
There are lots of available song-type styles as well. Not sure about Ring of Fire. I use the Country Strum for a lot of JC songs.

For Ring of Fire, I use the pick bass I specifically programmed on my Integra and also MoXF for Bert Kaempfert. It is exactly the bass sound used by Johnny Cash end of the 60s. There was one pick bass coming close in the BK-9, it needs to have that 'knocking' sound in the attack phase of the tone.

Thanks will try it.
I play ROF every night because the waiters prepare flaming desserts and drinks at tableside, and the guests get a kick out of hearing the song as the flames are blazing during the preparation.

Try:
33X B DI DNC
That's the name of the sound in the Guitar Bank. It makes a good lead Pedal Steel Guitar sound.
