Have you ever tried this type of speakers as a mini PA?

or

These models are brand-new, so there are only few reviews. I think these "oversized private party ghettoblasters" often lack sound quality especially in the mid frequencies, but maybe these new Sony speakers might be an exception?
The weight is 10-12 kilograms.

IMHO why even look at home audio devices when there are so many choices that are designed for live instruments. I would take a pair of Roland CM30's or Yamaha Stagepa 401I over either of those and theres a lot more out there to explore.

I started to do gigs on my own with a pieced together system.

It was 1991... I was 17. I used 2 angled car speakers by MTX... Looked like monitor speakers. They were powered by a Technics home reciever/amp. I used a Boss 6 channel mixer. I thought it sounded great only because I didn't know any better. I used it for 6 years. I replaced it with 2 Mackie SRM-450 speakers the year they came out.

You can use anything as long as it sounds good to you. The pro stuff is built to move around. The Mackies sounded GREAT compared to my first system. I would take my Yamaha MSR100 over the Sony... It only cost me $250.

Happy hunting!!
